Welcome to Y1Kat a small cattery in San Antonio, Texas. We live with our cats in our home loose and underfoot. They are our pets first and show and breeder cats second.

Our cattery is registered in CFA (Cat Fancier’s Association) and TICA (The International Cat Association). We show in both associations. We are full breeder members of MCBFA (Maine Coon Breeders and Fanciers Association and voluntarily comply with its Breeder Code of Ethics.  MCBFA is an international, independent breed organization dedicated to the maintenance and preservation of this amazing cat.

Our belief is to raise healthy Maine Coons with loads of personality and beautiful coats, but that also conform to the Maine Coon Breed Standard. We also believe that in order to have competitive cats you must show your cats and have the judges from the different associations assess how they meet the standard. We generally attend two shows a month.

We believe it is important for our cats be healthy. All cats that come to live with us test negative  for FeLV and FIV. Our breeding cats are tested for  HCM (Hypertrophic Cardiomopathy)and FHD (Feline Hip Dysplasia).

We also believe our girls should not be overbred so we only breed them every 10 months. This generally works out to be one litter per year. Kittens may go to new homes between the ages of 12 to 14 weeks. Some of the kittens are spayed or neutered before they leave our home. They will have had a health check-up at the vet and received their two series of vaccinations. All kittens are sold with a contract.

Disclaimer:  Screening for HCM and FHD is currently the recommended method to aid in reducing the incidence of these genetic conditions in our cats. Breeders cannot guarantee their cats will not have either of these conditions. However, Y1Kat can guarantee we are dedicated to screening our breeding stock in a continued effort to produce healthy and sound Maine Coon cats.
